Prudes or Prunes?

All dried out and laid before you.

Excessive shame and sexual repression aside, you really gotta love those prunes, I mean prudes. You know, prudes- the women who strictly judge other women based on what they wear, who they sleep with, and how they generally approach their sexuality.

Do prudes loosen your bowels like prunes? Just curious....

Chis Rock comes to mind...

"You see all these fat Republican guys going " I would never do such a thing. This is a travesty.'

l'm like, 'Nobody's trying to blow you.' Ain't no 26 year-old girls
trying to blow Orrin Hatch. Ain't nobody trying to give Newt Gingrich some. I don't give a fuck, you ain't never gonna hear Newt Gingrich go 'Man, l wish these hoes
would back up off me.'"

:) Most likely, they are envious to the point of jealousy. Hell, I'm envious of your international make out history, but I'm not jealous. :p

''l wish they would just
back the fuck up off me.''

*snickers* - You know I love you Marti, you're the best!

Of course, my international make out history is on display for you, so you can make informed decisions, that is. :)

oh, I don't know.

I'm not anti-prude.

I mean - the way sexsexsexsexsex appears to permeate every swinging thing in the world - it doesn't bother me that some folks find that oppressive and don't want to participate.

Yeah sure, not everyone has the same sex drive or wants their sexuality out there- front and center.

I've gone through periods where I feel pretty un-sexy and then moments when I feel great about myself.

I'm only anit-prude in the sense that the judgments certain pious individuals pass on others is first off, none of their damn business, and secondly, can be very hurtful in a "holier than thou" kind of way.

I am a sexually adventurous free-spirited kind of gal who enjoys beauty and not just beauty in the traditional sense either. All types of beauty, really.

Sensual expression, desire, longing, creating art through our sexual encounters with others (and ourselves!) is really what it's about for me.

And yes, even BDSM has it's place, for those who like it.

*Some* prudes are adverse to not only the above practices but to the actual people engaged in them.

I have no issue with prudes who don't agree/don't want to participate in the practice. However, it's repugnant when they attack and demean others for their preferences.

Sally - this is where I came in a year ago! crazy-ass world...the more things change, the more they stay the same...

I started participating in the blogiverse when I came across a thread over at Twisty's which degenerated into the usual slut-condemning. and here we are again, in the same spot.

huh.

Sally - I'm with you on this one. See, I don't really have so much of a problem with people being prudes per se - each to his/her own and all that. It's when prudishness is help up as the Official Feminist Standard to which we all should aspire that I get a bit testy.
Or, to put it another way...if you want to be asexual that's fine with me, as long as you don't expect me to join you, because that's not going to be happening any time soon.

Oh, AMEN. I love being told by someone who doesn't seem to have much interest in or respect for sexuality exactly what is wrong with mine. Sheesh.

You know, I wish I had found that conversation a couple of nights ago because I really would have enjoyed tearing that b.s. she said about biology to shreds. I just love it when someone asks for proof about something, so you present them with what science proves and then they respond with something like "Well you know, science can't really be trusted because everyone knows that scientists are all ____ which is why their work doesn't support my opinions". I mean, I've heard the religious fundamentalists who'd fill in the blank with "atheists" but after looking at that conversation it seems that we also can't trust science because all scientists are men. I guess I should just go kill myself. I mean, I'm a feminist and a biologist but I sure as hell don't agree with her.
